As everyone knows, the coronavirus has placed us into a stay-at-home order. We were very excited to continue our project at school and we had many great ideas. We are still trying our best in creating videos and scripts. We have faced many difficulties due to the closing of school. We hoped to make live experiments and do a whiteboard lecture. But, maybe that will have to be created at a later time. Continue to check out our website and YouTube channel for more updates.

Before our winter break, we planned to do many things with out project for the rest of the year. We are excited to make more videos. We are even thinking about conducting a live experiment. Over the break, we set a goal to make two videos. We successfully created two videos about solubility and titration. Make sure to go check out our videos on our YouTube channel, J&A Chemistry. We are also excited to return to school and continue our progress. We are still looking to just pump out more videos and pursue some of our new ideas.
So far, we have accomplished a lot in our project. We created several videos about moles and molar mass, periodic trends and valence electrons, types of chemical bonds, physical and chemical changes, and lewis diagrams. We have loved creating these videos, we even found new strategies to create them. Now, we have an introduction and we made it look a lot cleaner with PowerPoint slides. The reoccurring challenge is the actual video and audio recording. We have several videos ready to be made, it is just difficult to get the video how we want it.
To-Do List: - Create a LOT more videos by the end of the year - Continue making sleek and smooth work - Gain some feedback from students - Video on how to use our videos and study - Maybe do an actual experiment? From now to the end of winter break we hope to create at the very least 5 more videos. We are finally getting enough free time from sports and college applications to create more videos. We are excited and eager to make these new videos and maybe pursue some ideas we have planned. We are on track to have many videos created and we are excited! During our project, we have faced many technical difficulties and we have not been to able to upload some of our videos. A reoccurring issue is that some of the devices we use to record our videos are outdated and do not hold up. We are adapting and making the best decisions for our project. We are continuing to write scripts for our videos.
We have created a new video! Go ahead and check out our channel for a new video on Lewis diagrams. We have been slowly learning and adapting to the many problems in our video creating process. We are still making an effort to update our scripts and making great educational videos.
So far we have been working on new videos to upload in the next week or so. The next three videos you should be looking forward to are focused on Lewis diagrams, moles and molar mass, and solids, liquids and, gases. We have continued on a steady path of studying and making scripts for videos. Our biggest problem right now is recording the videos. We found that it takes us several times to just record one video without errors. We are making progress and are learning from our mistakes though. Check out our YouTube channel J&A Chemistry next week for new videos. (Click on the icon below to go to our channel)
We have been making some really good progress on our videos lately, being able to finally each record our first ones. There were some obstacles with reading off of a script and trying to illustrate at the same time so we improvised and recorded our audio then illustrated while listening to the audio. We then synced the audio with our screen recording of the illustration to create the video. It feels great to finally see some videos up on the channel after all of our preparations. Check out our YouTube video at J&A Chemistry to watch our first video on types of chemical bonds.
We've finally created our scripts and story board for our first two videos! We are currently recording our videos right now. We have been struggling to find ways to effectively relay our key points and ideas to our listeners, but we believe we finally found a good strategy. We want to highlight key points in the topics we teach and keep it simple so anyone could follow along. Tune in to J&A Chemistry this week to learn about moles, molar mass, and types of chemical bonds! Don't forget to leave a comment down below.
Today, we created our logo! We are super excited about our progress of our project. We have spent a lot of time critiquing our image and our lesson plans. Our first video is coming up so stay tuned. We are studying and learning how to use our equipment we purchased. (Below is our logo) For the past couple of days, we have began to study and research ways of filming our videos. Our materials have finally came in the mail and we are also beginning to story board. A logo and YouTube channel have also been created, so be sure to check those out! We should have our first video recorded and uploaded in the next week and a half. Make sure to subscribe to our YouTube channel at J&A Chemistry.
